Yukon Trapline Adventures

Ten day trips on a wilderness Yukon Trapline Adventure

The fur industry has a long rich history in Canada. Fur from the Yukon Territory is some of the best quality to be found anywhere in the world. Miles of uninhabited wilderness make Yukon a trapper’s paradise. Grizzly Creek Lodge operates two traplines, both in the southeast Yukon. Each of these trap-lines is unique and has a good population of furbearers. Since the Yukon uses a registered trapline system, we have exclusive trapping rights in each respective area.

The Yukon is the only jurisdiction in Canada that allows nonresident aliens to acquire a trapping license. Unlike trips offered in other provinces, on our trips, you will be fully licensed. This means you can legally set traps yourself.

Trapping season runs from Oct 1st through March 31st.

Clients should plan to arrive in Whitehorse the day before their trip starts. Many clients arrive on the afternoon flight and spend the night at the hotel. We will pick you up the next morning for travel to the trailhead. It is about 4.5 hours from Whitehorse to the trailhead. From the trailhead to the Pike Lake trapline, is 1 hour by snowmachine. The Toobally Lake line is a 5.5-hour drive from Whitehorse, followed by 3 hours on snowmachine to the cabin.
Our trap-line adventures are not just adventure trips. You will get hands-on experience setting and checking traps in a wilderness environment. You will also get to take some fur home at no additional cost. Each client can take one pelt from each species caught during their stay. Species we target include wolf, wolverine, lynx, marten, otter, beaver, fisher, mink, and weasels.
